Richard Venmar grew up in western Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1975. He completed his dental education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, graduating with a D.M.D. degree in 1979. In recognition of his academic record and clinical skills while in dental school, Dr. Venmar was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honorary Society.

Following graduation, Dr. Venmar practiced with Dr. Michael Pawk, his neighbor and mentor, for one year in his home town of Butler before moving to Vermont. In November of 1980, he opened his practice on Main Street in Barre, above Paige and Campbell Insurance and remained there until 1990. By then, the practice had outgrown the original space and was moved to the current Maple Avenue location where doctor and staff enjoy the challenges of providing wide ranging dental services to people of all ages.

As outside interests, Dr. Venmar enjoys photography, cooking and computers. His grown daughters, Kate and Jaime, live in Nashville, Tennessee and Novo Airao, Brazil, respectively. In August of 2010, Kate left Chicago and moved to Nashville Tennessee, where she is a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical sciences in the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Jaime has worked at a travel agency in Novo Airao that specializes in Amazon adventures, and has attained a certification to teach English as a second language.

Dr. Venmar maintains memberships in the American Dental Association and the Vermont State Dental Society. In addition to private practice, Dr. Venmar has held a part time faculty position beginning in 1980 in the School of Dental Hygiene, first at the University of Vermont and later at Vermont Technical College. He also lectures to dental assisting students at the Technical Center at Essex Junction High School.

Following his dental school education, Dr. Venmar has completed many hours of continuing education in all areas of dentistry and enjoys the great variety of challenges a broad based general practice provides.
